We're in Tennessee for Thanksgiving weekend right now. We haven't been down for a real visit since June, so it was time to come in for a longer visit. Maura couldn't wait to get to Nan and Poppa's house and asked every day when we were leaving. She wanted to know exactly how long we'd be there and has asked all weekend how much longer we are staying. I think she'd stay here forever if we'd let her. Nan had a gingerbread house kit waiting for her when we got here. Last year, we had the kit that required you to put the house together and it was a little difficult! This year, Nan bought the premade kit and had better success! Maura loved decorating her house and she did a great job. I think about half the candy made it into her belly before the end of the craft.
We had our Thanksgiving dinner at Brent's aunt and uncle's house. We had at least thirty people packed in for a delicious meal and thanksgiving. Brent's cousin Ben and his family flew in as a surprise for his mom and step dad. We haven't seen them since last Christmas, so we loved getting a chance to catch up with them. Maura found a little stool in the kitchen and made it her own. That was fine until Tristan spied at and decided he'd like a try too!
Nan and Poppa have been caring for the kids each morning so that Brent and I have a chance to sleep in. It's been HEAVENLY not to have to get up at 6:30 with my kids who are still on eastern time in their minds. Nan and Poppa had to get inventive the other day when Tristan's jammies got wet. He wore Daddy's sweatshirt around like a dress until we woke up and found him some clothes. Tristan loves the toy airplane and has had more fun getting in and out of it.
Daddy gave him a few big pushes...AND he got a few big kisses. He was a happy boy!
We went to a local restaurant to celebrate Grandmother's annual Christmas dinner. She doesn't have the space to have us all over, so few years ago, she started booking a room at this inn and having an awesome dinner for the family right after Thanksgiving. I LOVE this tradition! We were able to leave the kids with Brent's other Grandmother so that we could actually enjoy our dinners! The whole Chambers family. This inn is an old stagecoach stop and it's not hard to imagine weary travellers stopping here for the evening 200 years ago.
We capped off the evening with a reading of the Night Before Christmas. What a fun Christmas tradition! Thanks Grandmother!

I want a ride in that toy airplane!! Okay, that zebra outfit... MUST have it. You know me and zebra print! Feel free to pass that to Anna Kate when Maura outgrows it. ;o) I love your family - so fun and festive!
