So exciting, especially for my little man. He loves everything on wheels and thought it was so awesome to actually meet a real live fireman. He especially loved crawling up in the big hook and ladder truck and looking around and trying on a "fire hat." He now asks if we are going to the fire station every time we visit the library!
Sweet kids! They both thought they were big stuff getting up into that huge firetruck. Tristan wanted to blow the horn, and he would have if I would have let him crawl up into the cab. Unfortunately that was forbidden!
After the kids toured the firetruck, one of the firemen talked to them about the equipment they wear. This was an awesome demonstration. He put all the equipment on one piece at a time and explained that even though he looked funny, it was still just him under the mask. Apparently many children are afraid of the firefighters when they enter a home and will hide from them. This firefighter was really trying to educate the kids about firefighters. Tristan was eating it up!
Alex and Maura drove the Chief's vehicle and navigated using his computer, then we headed outside to get some photos by the big truck.
Sarah and Lily were having so much fun together. I love when the three amigos can all be together.
What a fun day at the fire station! We got to see where the firemen eat, sleep and play and most importantly, we learned more about fire safety! Maura asks us to quiz her about fire safety all the time. It's some information that I hope we'll never have to use, but I'm glad she's such a pro at it. Tristan was really into the whole trip and I wouldn't be surprised to see a little fireman traipsing out of our house next Halloween!
